Her Majesty's Court of Appeal

Her Majesty's Court of Appeal
Formerly, the chief appellate tribunal of England. It was established by the judicature acts of 1873 and 1875, and invested with the jurisdiction formerly exercised by the court of appeal in chancery, the exchequer chamber, the judicial committee of the privy council in admiralty and lunacy appeals, and with general appellate jurisdiction from the high court of justice. It consists of the Lord Chancellor, Lord Chief Justice, Master of the Rolls, President of the Family Division, former Lord Chancellors, Lords of Appeal in Ordinary and Lords Justices of Appeal.
There are two divisions:
(1) Criminal Division which hears appeals from the Crown Court.
(2) Civil Division which hears appeals from various civil tribunals. Appeal lies from both divisions to the House of Lords
